Solo instrument & chamber music: Competition regulations

Age limit

27 (note: A maximum of 10% of an ensemble may be between 28 and 35)

Who can participate

Amateurs, musicians from private and state schools, professionals

The Competition includes

  • 1 performance in front of jury (19th July)
  • If chosen by the jury: Performance in the Charity Gala Award Concert on the 20th of July in the MuTh Theater


  • Piano
  • Strings (Violin - Viola - Cello - Double Bass)
  • Woodwinds; Brass (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Trumpet, French Horn,Trombone, Saxophone)
  • Chamber Music (2-10 musicians)

Age category and performing time

A    up to 8                               5-7 minutes

B     9 to 12  years                   7-10 minutes

C    13 to 15 years                    8-12 minutes

D    16 to 18 years                   12-15 minutes

E    19 to 27 years                    15-20 minutes


2 original pieces (or 1 original piece and 1 arrangement) from different musical periods e.g. one baroque piece and one contemporary; or one classical and one romantic.

  • The repertoire presented must be within the grasp of the player, with respect to both technical and musical aspects of the piece.
  • It is recommended to choose from the rich repertoire of baroque, early classical, classical, romantic, and contemporary periods.

Application Fee

Solo: – 90 Euro
Duos: – 90 Euro/performer
Trios or larger ensembles: – 45 Euro/performer

This amount is due on registration and is non-refundable. By submitting the application, the participant agrees to the competition regulations.
