The Vienna International Choir Competition invites musicians from all over the world to sing together. Our aim is to give the possibility to bring people from different countries together, share ideas and strengthen cultural understanding. Furthermore, to open minds for unknown types of musical expression and share the passion of singing that connects all participants.
The shares experiences of the Masterclass , Competition and the gala concert will give participants a great sense of community and will strengthen international communication and connections.



Masterclasses & Workshops

July 14th-16th  2020

We provide masterclasses especially and only for the choir conductors in the morning and afterwards - in the afternoon - for the whole choir.


Each group can decide between two levels:

Level I: intermediate level 

  • optionally with instrumentalists, max. 12 min
  • programm: Musical, Hits from Pop/Jazz standards, Folk Music
  • 2 pieces from different genres and styles, one piece from your home country preferred

Level II: advanced level

  • a cappella, max. 12 min
  • 3 different pieces from:
  1. Renaissance (obligatory)
  2. Contemporary piece (obligatory)
  3. Piece of free choice

JULY 17th 2020

For the competition there will be 5 different pieces for download (coming soon) from which you have to chose one for the competition.

  • Every choir will receive a participation certificate.
  • Winners (place 1 to 3) of all categories will receive a certificate and VIAF-Trophy
  • The jury may award special prizes for outstanding performances and unique presentations.
  • Gala Concert with ceremonial handing over of the cups
Gala Concert

July 18th 2020

All participating choirs will sing on the stage of the beautiful Ehrbar-Saal in the heart of Vienna and get a certificate for taking part, either in the masterclasses or the competition. For the competition winners there will be a ceremonial award of the cups.
